This week's MyPOd guest with Dom Chambers will be Dr Richard Wendorf, director of the American Museum.

Located in Claverton, just outside Bath, this is the only museum dedicated to American decorative and folk art outside the US.

Early in this fascinating conversation both host and guest establish their transatlantic credentials so it is with personal feeling that the "special relationship" is explored as a theme.

The former Harvard professor Dr Wendorf offers a very informed insight into Anglo-US relations from the Churchill/Roosevelt years through to President Obama's upgrade of the special relationship to an "essential" one.

This forms the background to how this area found itself having such a culturally diverse museum which is celebrating 50 years at Claverton Manor.

With tracks mainly drawn from The Great American Songbook, Dr Wendorf speaks with passion about his selections that include Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Richard Strauss and Philip Glass.

Presented by Dom Chambers, myPod airs on Monday at 2pm with repeats on Wednesday at 10am and Sunday at 2pm online at www.somervalleyfm.co.uk and on 97.5FM.
