A RADSTOCK man has been charged with armed robbery.

Forty-six-year-old Eric Downer, of Chapel Court, Clandown, is accused of robbery at Bristol's Arnos Manor Hotel and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Downer appeared before Bristol Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, January 14.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they are looking for a second man in connection with the robbery, which took place on November 2 at about 5am, when suspects locked a night porter in the toilet and threatened a receptionist with a gun and an axe.

Between £4,000 and £5,000 in cash and some cheques were stolen.

A second man being hunted is described as a white male, short in height, with blond hair and green eyes.

He was wearing a black jacket with a white motif on the front, a hooded jacket with a white emblem on top and blue jeans.
