It was all downhill for the seniors section of Fosseway seniors as they were beaten 5-1 away to Entry Hill.

With the sun shining, it was left to acting captain Rod Bruce and partner George Underwood, along with John Ticehurst and Pete Fitch, to prevent a clean sweep, with both pairings achieving halves.

Reg Curtis and Bill Lester lost the final hole to finish 1-down, Mike Ricketts and Bob Smith were 2&1 losers, Howard Nowell and Malcolm Tucker went down 3&2 and Allen Cheney and Doug Howarth were on the end of a 5&4 defeat.

The following day, the club held its Committee Cup greensomes competition, which was convincingly won by Arthur Bellinger and Alan Pugh.

Their nett score of 59 was four clear of Mike Lester- Card and a revitalised Brian Phelps with 63, while Bruce and John Bendle placed third overall with 65.

Members of the club will remember a hard-working colleague with a competition today. Eric James died last year and a Bogey Cup competition has been named after him.

The next social match sees Fosseway travel to Woodbrige Park on Monday.
