The St Peter's Hospice Chew Valley Support Group is staging an evening of Christmas music this weekend.

The event featuring the musical group Mendip Voices, and mulled wine and mince pies, is on Saturday.

The fundraising evening will begin at 7.30pm at St Andrew's Church in Chew Magna.

Tickets, which cost £10, are available from Chew Magna Post Office.

They will also be available on the door.

The group's last fundraiser, an afternoon tea in the Carpenter's Arms pub at Stanton Wick, and organised by Audrey Press, raised £595 for the Bristol hospice.

Fifty people attended that event, and enjoyed home-made cakes with their tea.

Group chair Constance Bowdler thanked the pub for its help in raising a "marvellous sum to add to our much-needed funds."

Anyone wanting to arrange a coffee morning or tea party, or help in any way with fundraising for the hospice, can contact her on 01275 332078.
