A rescue dog called Barney played one of the leading roles when Midsomer Norton PCSO Kate Honey married Matt Charlton on Saturday.

The 13-year-old German shepherd-cross-saluki, was adopted by the couple eight years ago after he was taken in by Bath Cats and Dogs Home.

Being part of the family, he had the important job of being ring bearer when they married at St Michael's and All Angels Church, Buckland Dinham.

The bride is the daughter of Paul and Carol Honey, of Wiltshire, while the groom, who is in sales and marketing at A J Charlton and Sons, is the son of Adrian Charlton, of Buckland Dinham, and Debbie Raeburn, of Wiltshire.

Kate wore a Sophie Tolli beaded lace dress with a sweetheart neckline and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley.

She was attended by her sister Lucy Honey-Dando, who was maid of honour, and bridesmaid Alice Keverne.

Best man was Andy Irvine.
