For the first time people can train to become lifeguards at Paulton's community swimming pool.
The pool faced closure two years ago but has since undergone a £80,000 makeover which saw volunteers working together to save the pool.
They won grant funding from Sport England and the Amateur Swimming Association to keep it open before it was handed over to Paulton Parish Council.
The Royal Life Saving Society course will take place at the pool from February 11 to 17 and is open to anyone aged over 16.
Rachel James, from the pool, said: "This is a qualification which could lead to a new career and would be particularly useful for young people.
"We employ 20 lifeguards who work covering various shifts. Many of them first enjoyed swimming in the pool as children. It is a lifetime skill."
