Supporters of an annual charity afternoon tea at Chilcompton Village Hall have raised £1,700 for the breast care unit at the Royal United Hospital.
The event is organised by pilates teacher Karen Weeks as a thank you to the department where family members and friends have received care.
The figure more than doubled the £800 she had hoped to raise from the tea party and Mrs Weeks said she was amazed at the response.
During the afternoon there was a raffle, with a record number of tickets sold through people attending Karen's classes and their family and friends.
A cake sale, book stall and coffee shop together with a children's craft table brought together generations of families.
Mrs Weeks said she was grateful for the support and added: "Not only has this department helped me, my family and many of my pilates clients through some tough times, it continues to support patients walking through its doors as if they were family members."
